Beyond BMI? is a study investigating which common method of measuring body fat is the most accurate and most comfortable one to use in populations of mixed ethnicity.
We are investigating whether BMI should continue to be the main population measure for body fat and obesity or if another common proxy measure is better. We are looking at accuracy as well as how physically and mentally comfortable women of different ethnicities feel having their body composition measured by the most common proxies for body fat.

What to Expect
If you are eligible, you will be invited to participate in a one-hour appointment in the Nutrition and Eating Behaviour Lab at UBC where you will be led through measurements for seven body fat proxies and asked a series of questions about your level of comfort with each measurement. Before your appointment, you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire.
